There was a time when virtual ping pong was cutting edge.....not any more. Games are now incredibly complex and whether they are a shoot-em up or a deep story-driven epic, they test your home PC to the max and amaze us with their lightning speed interactivity (at least the good ones do).

Our work in this field is a little less frenetic, more environments than blood and more artistic than computer rendered. Our strength is to bring a more naturalistic approach to the images whilst incorporating some of Hollywood's tricks into the mix.

We are currently in the process of completing a massive game with a truly epic scope that will rule the world next year. Our images set the tone for the interactive journey and although we should not mention it by name at this point (for fear of giving away too much,) we will be proud to see our hard work on smaller screens around the world and in real time....

There are two requirements for success in creating Matte Effects for film. The first is experience and the second is the ability to listen and to translate a production's concept into reality. We have both.

With the most personal and interactive service that allows the client to be a part of the process throughout a shot, we can quickly nail the concept before beginning the heavy duty rendering of the composition which ultimately saves time and money.

In most facilities, Matte painting is a misunderstood art and science. There is a lack of knowledge as to it's role within visual effects and often artists need to rely on large-scale reference to glue elements together rather than create a shot from nothing. Since matte painting developed from painting on glass into the digital realm, a great deal of the art has been lost in the digital revolution. In some respects, the quality of matte work at many facilities has declined even though we now have the ability to do so much more.

First and foremost, Digital Firepower is made up of "artists" - people who have had the right training in the traditional arts before moving into the maze of technology. This training shows in the work and we hope that when it comes to creating naturalistic elements, we offer the best quality that continues to break new ground.

We offer full service Matte shots inclusive of all elements (2D & 3D) and 10 bit composites as well as simply delivering elements to be composited elsewhere.

CGI seems inappropriate when describing an image that is meant to be photoreal. When we were first approached to create architectural renderings by some of our clients in the Hotel business, we thought of CGR (computer generated realism) to describe what we were aiming at.

Although a few high-end architects offer photoreal architectural renderings, we have the advantage that we are permanently in the business of recreating life.

We are constantly working at the very same techniques but employing them in the even more demanding avenue of feature film effects. This makes us better equipped to deliver more realistic images, faster and at less expense to our clients.

CGR is, of course, limitless to it's use and practicability. Just as we do in film, we can build moving representations of proposed architectural projects within natural surroundings.
